Applied Practices
Somatics and Dance
Dance has always been where Martha’s somatic work becomes public practice — performance and choreography as a way of applying body-mind awareness in community, on stage, and outdoors.
Community Performance
Global Water Dances
Since 2008, Martha has helped guide Global Water Dances, an international initiative inviting choreographers to create site-specific performances that inspire environmental awareness around water. The project has brought together artists, environmentalists, and communities across more than 60 countries, each contributing a local performance to a shared, worldwide day of dance.
Movement Practice
BodyMind Dancing™
BodyMind Dancing is Martha’s anatomically informed somatic dance practice, blending improvisation with structured phrase work. It has been taught in performances and workshops exploring how movement patterns reflect — and can reshape — the body’s lived history, from infancy through adulthood.
